I had forgotten that I had made this cute little guy almost 4 years ago, until a friend shared this photo on Facebook this week. There are a lot of minion patterns out there to chose from, but I liked the simplicity of this pattern. The pattern was relatively easy to follow and the most difficult part was making his small little hands. I modified the pattern slightly to make his mouth with black yarn rather than the yellow yarn that the pattern designer used. I wanted him to have a slight smirk since minions are almost always up to something. You can easily modify the minion's character by changing the placement of the pupils (buttons), the shape of the mouth, and the size of the eyes and safety goggles.
I tried to replicate a very cute dog pattern, for a fluffy dog. And from this pattern I learned a really cool trick about using a wire brush on the yarn to make crocheted animals appear like they have hair. Unfortunately, you have to use a much thicker yarn to make your dog look more like the pattern and less like my dachshund imitation.
