I started teaching myself to crochet about 12 years ago when I was in high school. About 1 week before Christmas, I decided I would learn to crochet to make my friends' Christmas gifts. Naively, I didn't realize what kind of a task that was, and my friends got their scarves much later than Christmas that year. But it started a new hobby and I have continued to teach myself to crochet ever since.
